The AI Writing Assistant is a PRO feature in Jottings that gives you three powerful capabilities:
- Generate from Prompt — Describe what you want to write, and AI creates it
- Adjust Tone — Shift your writing's voice without rewriting from scratch
- Transform — Expand, summarize, or restructure your content
Each tool is designed for the unique constraints of microblogging: short, punchy, and personal.
Why AI for Microblogs?
Traditional AI writing tools are built for long-form content. They produce walls of text that feel robotic and impersonal.
We built our AI assistant differently. It understands that a microblog post should be:
- Brief: Usually under 280 characters
- Personal: Your voice, not a corporate press release
- Immediate: Capturing a thought in the moment
The AI respects these constraints. It won't turn a simple observation into a five-paragraph essay.
How It Works
When you're creating or editing a jot, you'll see the AI Writing Assistant panel. It knows the context of your site—your writing style, your typical topics—and tailors suggestions accordingly.

Undo and Redo
Made a change you don't like? No problem.
The AI Writing Assistant includes undo and redo controls that let you step back through your AI transformations. Each time the AI modifies your content, that change is saved to a history. You can:
- Undo: Revert to the previous version
- Redo: Move forward if you undid too much
This gives you the freedom to experiment. Try different tones, expand and then condense, generate variations—all without losing your original work.
Note: History is kept in memory during your editing session. If you refresh the page, the history resets.
AI Feedback Messages
After each AI action, you'll see a brief message from your AI assistant in a chat bubble. These messages confirm what happened:
- "Made it shorter and punchier"
- "Added a casual, friendly tone"
- "Expanded with more details"
This feedback helps you understand exactly what changed. You can also ask the AI questions—if you ask something like "What is this?" or "Help," it will respond without modifying your content.
